United Way of Thunder Bay Launches Tampon Tuesday 2024 in Celebration of International Women’s Day

We need your help. PERIOD.

Our period promise: To provide dignity one box at a time.

Almost one quarter of people who menstruate in Canada say they have struggled to afford menstrual products for themselves or their children. And when people don’t have menstrual products, they miss school, work, or other opportunities to contribute to their community.

By uniting with our neighbours, local businesses, unions, schools, and community organizations, we can support people in need by making sure they can access basic needs, like period products.Beginning March 5, we will be hosting collection drives for period products across the region. Consider purchasing an extra product (or two) the next time you’re at the pharmacy or grocery store, and drop it off at one of our community collection sites by March 31.

You can visit any of the following community collection sites to drop off products:

United Way of Thunder Bay (1085 Carrick St. Upper Level)
Carol’s Cakes (110 Waterloo St. S)
Swag Events (819 Gore St. W)
The Creative Company Art Studio (1134 Roland St.)
RBC (all Thunder Bay branches)
Sleeping Giant Brewery (712 Macdonell St.)
Shoppers Drug Mart stores
Any OPP NorthWest Region detachment

There will be additional collection drives held at the following locations:

  • Thunder Bay & District Labour Council OPSEU / SEFPO Membership Centre: 326 Memorial Ave International Women’s Day March & Celebration on March 8 from 6 – 8pm
  • Women’s Business Showcase Market 251 Red River Rd Suite #3 Hosted by Women & Company at Goods & Co. on March 9 from 10am – 4pm

If you would like to hold a collection drive at your business or place of work, you can download a Tampon Tuesday Collection Drive poster here.

Thanks to other workplaces throughout Thunder Bay who are participating by doing a collection drive with their own staff:

Stay tuned for the results of the collection drive!
