The Heart of Evergreen: A Year in Review

In the beginning of 2023, Evergreen a United Neighbourhood enthusiastically embarked on new challenges through the #3ThingsforTbay campaign, recognizing its potential to bring positive change to our community. This initiative helped to support our commitment to provide invaluable opportunities for children, youth, and their families, that may otherwise be out of reach.

This year has been exceptionally rewarding as we embraced vibrant community engagements through a range of activities. Immersing ourselves in pow wows provided a firsthand experience of the depth of Indigenous traditions, nurturing a sense of mutual respect. Coming together for the United Way Plane Pull highlighted our collective strength and commitment to supporting meaningful causes. Exploring Fort William Historical Park and Fort William First Nation enriched our understanding of local history and traditions. Meanwhile, events at Ogden School, spanning from graduations to lively cultural celebrations, have evolved into a pivotal foundation of our community-building endeavours.

Evergreen creates a safe space for vulnerable children, strengthening the community. Recently, youth joined the annual Regional Food Distribution Association (RFDA) food drive, spending hours collecting a record amount of groceries and donations. Their enthusiasm reflected a commitment to help, showing that even small acts make a big impact.

As we reflect on our journey, we eagerly anticipate what’s next. Our commitment to creating a positive impact remains unchanged, and we look forward to future opportunities for fun, learning, and community building.
