Community Safety & Well-Being Thunder Bay

The Thunder Bay Community Safety & Well-Being Council (CSWB) is a local government approach to crime prevention, community safety and well-being. Municipalities are at the grassroots level, closest to citizens, and understand best how to improve community safety. The CSWB uses an evidence-based, social development approach effective in addressing the many risk factors known to be at the root of crime. Crime prevention recognizes that multiple complex social, economic, health and environmental factors lead to criminal behaviour and victimization. Our Council is made up of members representing many sectors, bringing to the table experts in social services, education, enforcement, child welfare, justice, mental health, substance use, Indigenous services, victim services, youth services and much more.
