United Way of Thunder Bay Staff Get in the Spirit of Pizza
On February 14th, 2024, the United Way of Thunder Bay organized a special staff luncheon as part of their ongoing campaign, “For the Love of Pizza,” aimed at encouraging team building and community engagement through shared experiences centred around the enjoyment of pizza.
The event began with an inspiring speech from the United Way Director of Philanthropy & Community Engagement, Janet Fairbridge, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving collective goals. “Just like the diverse array of toppings on our pizzas, each member of our team brings forth unique contributions,” remarked the director, fostering a tone of appreciation and inclusivity.
Embracing the belief that pizza serves as a universal language, United Way of Thunder Bay introduced their initiative starting from February 9th, coinciding with International Pizza Day. Local restaurants were invited to craft exclusive and appetizing pizzas available for purchase until month-end. For every one of these specially prepared pizzas bought throughout February, a donation of $2 per pizza OR 50 cents per slice would be directed towards supporting children, youth, and families within the community.
Patrons are encouraged to enjoy a slice of #LocalLove and contribute to this meaningful cause, thereby aiding the philanthropic efforts of the United Way of Thunder Bay and Our Kids Count.
