New Resource:  Parents Like Us
An Unofficial Guide to Caring for a Young Person Who Uses Substances

Join Stephanie Diebolt, Ronda Mackie and Thora Cartlidge, as they share a new local resource: Parents Like Us, aimed at supporting caregivers of youth who use substances. The original Parents Like Us handbook was written by parents in Victoria, BC and the adaptation was led by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit’s Substance Use Health program and co-created locally with caregivers. Shaped by focus groups, storytelling, youth input, and art sessions, this resource reflects local experiences – including voices from Indigenous caregivers and youth.

Following the presentation, we will provide time to ask questions and engage in informal dialogue.

PRESENTER(S):

Stephanie Diebolt, Thunder Bay District Health Unit / Drug Awareness Committee

Ronda Mackie, Thunder Bay District Health Unit (Harm Reduction Program) and Parent Advocate

Thora Cartlidge, Parent Advocate

Who should attend? Participation is free and open to individuals, organizations and businesses whose area of focus or interest relate to the topic at hand.
