Impala Canada
“QUALITY OF LIFE” AWARD
This organization has been a longstanding supporter of Thunder Bay and applies its corporate values to its community commitment of Respect, Care, and Deliver; focusing their giving in two areas: Community well-being and Education and Skills Development. They contribute to the quality of life of various groups through strategic partnerships and donations, including The Christmas Cheer Fund, Roots Community Food Centre, Confederation College, and Lakehead University, George Jeffrey’s Children’s Foundation, Mining Matters, Wake the Giant Music Festival, and Outland Youth Employment’s programs for young people in the North.
Their employees have a long tradition of volunteering and contributing to the success of local fundraising events. Based on the employees’ work rotation schedule, they created two new opportunities for accessibility with virtual, flexible volunteer opportunities for the 1:1 reading program and a charity raffle, where employees participate at the mine site with proceeds going to local organizations they have nominated.
Additionally, Impala Canada has supported the establishment of Impact, a collective for LGBTQQIP2SAA and allies to connect and support each other while working at Impala Canada’s Lac Des Iles Mine Site, along with focusing on making a safer, more inclusive, accessible workplace for women. They regularly host tours at the Mine Site, welcoming groups to broaden and diversify the perspective of mining and increase awareness about career opportunities for people of all ages, races, cultures, sexes, and genders.
Impala Canada truly embraces its corporate commitment to Quality of Life!
