Loud Women Collective
The Loud Women Collective began in 2019 when Kris Tonkens started a feminist book club here in Thunder Bay. By the end of 2021, the book club had grown into a brick & mortar business located inside the Goods & Co. Market.
The curated bookshelves in the store promote representation, inclusion, and education by featuring women, BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, and disabled authors. Kris has read over half of what’s on the shelves, and is always happy to recommend your next great read!
The store brand clothing are designed in-house, and are screen printed by the all female team at Sugar Bomb Printing. The tees & sticker collections are an effort to keep the conversations going outside of the store and book club, and feature a range of social justice messages. The store also features locally made feminist gifts and accessories by local female and non-binary makers.
The goal of the Loud Women Collective is to educate, promote inclusivity and representation, and encourage education and social change in our community. We stand firmly against the ongoing campaign of hate towards trans and non-binary folks, and support all women in our work.
